Where were you on September 11, 2001?? It's one of those days in history that you can specifically remember. At work this morning we had a moment of silence for the victims, families and survivors of this tragedy. It still seems unreal. How could people do this?
I remember I was off from work that day and I was getting ready to take the puppies to the groomers. I was running late (big shock!) and trying to rush around. I stood still when I heard the 2nd plane crashed into the tower. I remember Matt Lauer on the Today Show saying "this isn't an accident now." Of course, they originally reported it was a plane accident. A good friend called me that morning to check on me, just to make sure I was alright. She sounded so relieved that I wasn't at my work place that morning. I remember being sorta short with her, just in shock at the events and still trying to hurry out the door. I still feel bad about that and I'm sorry. I remember wasting the time away at the mall and standing in awe in Sears. I stared at the 20 tv sets on the wall and just watched in disbelief. I still think about that morning once in awhile when I walk past that area in Sears. I remember being so happy to just get home that afternoon and hug Adam. We were glued to the news for months to come. This was the beginning of our CNN addiction. We've switched to FOX News but we still need the information about what's happening in world.
Adam was at the dentist that morning of 9-11. He vividly recalls a 4 hour root canal. Poor guy. He was in the chair when the tragedy struck. Of course the dentist and his staff were distracted so the procedure lasted forever. They kept pausing to reflect on the event and just watch the television to get the details. Needless to say, he won't ever forget that root canal. If you ever ask him about getting a root canal....this is the story you will hear.
I remember months later just wishing that things would get back to "normal". I don't think things have been the same since. I would like to visit Shanks Park in PA one day. I have a friend that has been there to the memorial site and actually returned a couple times for reflection. Have you read the book called "Let's Roll"? Check it out sometime if you get a chance. Todd Beamer was a great man of faith. He was one of the men on Flight 93 that stormed the cabin and faced the terrorists.

I was working in DC that day--two blocks from the White House. From my 14th floor window, I could see the Pentagon burning. There were reports that a bomb had gone off at the State Dept and that the subway was closed and many other rumors (none true). I am very grateful to Todd Beamer for what he and others did that day, as it was rumored that the plane he was on was heading for the White House.
